Clicking or Clonking Noise When Shifting Between Drive and Reverse

Some owners report a noticeable clicking or clonking sound when pulling away from a standstill or switching from a forward gear into reverse. In many cases, this can be traced to loose propeller shaft flange bolts at the rear axle. The recommended remedy involves removing these bolts, cleaning the threads thoroughly, applying a suitable thread‐locking compound, and tightening them to the correct torque setting.
